Australia and NIKE have released Matildas’ FIFA Women’s World Cup kits.

The patterns and green and gold colours of the Matildas’ home kit have been hailed for celebrating a “diverse country and community”.

Matildas star Ellie Carpenter said, “They really represent us, what our beliefs are and what we think is important; they put that into the process of designing the kit.”

“We’re really grateful that they’ve listened to us and given us a voice to show what is important and what we believe in.

“I’m very grateful to be wearing this kit in this upcoming tournament. To pull on that green and gold jersey for Australia, it’s very exciting and an honour I’ll never take for granted,” Carpenter said.

Football Australia chief executive officer James Johnson says “the kit designed for the Matildas represents our diverse and beautiful game and the country that we call home”.

“In 2023, we will experience a special moment as we welcome people from all over the world to our backyard to celebrate a monumental event in sport that leaves a transformative legacy for football in this country and Australian society.

“This occasion is generations in the making and since winning the bid, Football Australia has been committed to ensuring the Matildas would become the global iconic brand they are today.

“To see the kits on the pitch is going to be such a special and unifying moment for everyone involved in the game – from the pioneers of the past, the players of today, the staff, the fans, and future generations of Australians.”
